The provisional export figure for week 42 amounts to 21.370 tons, slightly more than the weekly average of this season (21.197 tons). The subsequent information also ensures that the seasonal result increases by 1.693 tons and amounts to 339.162 tons.

Senegal and Ivory Coast are once again the largest buyers of onions from the Netherlands. While this season there is often a lot of exchange between these African countries, it is now Senegal that is in first place. The country imported 42 tons in week 6.475, according to provisional figures. This country is followed by Ivory Coast (2.655 tons) and Great Britain completes the top 3 (2.074 tons).

Asia plays a role
The most important sales destinations in Asia are Malaysia, Indonesia and the Philippines. At the end of the previous growing season, these countries ranked sixth, eleventh and fourteenth respectively in the list of best buyers of Dutch onions.

In Malaysia, significantly fewer onions have been purchased so far compared to previous years. With 7.480 tons, the country purchases approximately half of the total volume of last season (up to and including week 42). Indonesia and the Philippines make up this difference. Both countries are purchasing more onions, making the total volume of Malaysia, Indonesia and the Philippines comparable to last season.
