The additional demand from African destinations has a significant impact on exports boost datum. Because the important sales areas from Africa are explicitly entering the export market, a weekly export of 25.000 tons is back in the picture. Due to export demand, bale prices have also risen slightly.

Both the bale prices for medium grade and large onions have increased. For 45 to 65 millimeters €36 to €38 is paid and for 50 to 70 millimeters €37 to €39 is paid. Although this last sorting is hardly sold, because there are triplets left over. These drastically reduce the average price, with prices from €21 to €25.

In addition, the coarser gradings have also managed to take a step up. For the 60 millimeter upwards, the bale prices now amount to €40.

Fixed mood
Since the export engine is currently running well, processors and traders are looking for onions for both the short and long term. This makes the onion market a lot busier. The regional stock exchange in Emmeloord therefore changed the price mood from 'price-based' to 'fixed'.

While the Emmeloord stock exchange took €1 off the top end of the 60% large onions last week, it will be added again this week. This brings the quotation for the 60% large onions at the Emmeloord stock exchange to €31 to €35.

All 3 regional fairs recorded a plus for 0% to 30% large onions and 30% to 60% large onions. When all quotations are compared, the finest quotation is €20 to €26 and for the 30% to 60% the quotation is €24 to €32.
