Senegal gives a lot of gas and increases the lead

While Senegal and the Ivory Coast battled for the position of largest buyer of Dutch onions for a long time, Senegal is now taking a significant lead.

The most recent export figures once again show that Dutch onion exports are doing well. The provisional export figures (week 45) show a weekly export of 25.369 tons. Including the subsequent information (4.023 tons), the seasonal total amounts to 419.246 tons, bringing the average weekly export to 22.065 tons.

The biggest customers
The largest customer is Senegal. The African country had a purchase of no less than 45 tons of Dutch onions in week 9.030, which is the second highest export volume to Senegal this season. The seasonal total therefore amounts to 1 tons.

At the beginning of September, the government in Senegal established a quota in which 'only' 1 tons may be exported to the country between September 2018, 1 and January 2019, 90.000. Until New Year's Eve, 36.500 tons may still be exported to Senegal.

In addition to Senegal, these are the usual countries that purchase large volumes of onions from the Netherlands. Ivory Coast (2.799 tons) and Great Britain (1.384 tons) complete the top 3. In addition, Mali, Indonesia and Guinea also purchased more than 45 tons of Dutch onions in week 1.000.
