The latest export figures (based on preliminary information) again show an excellent result, amounting to an export of more than 26.742 tons. The subsequent information for weeks 40 to 45 amounts to 1.054 tons. This causes it to rise season total to 447.043 tons, although less than last year. However, the circumstances should not be lost sight of.

The weekly average stands at 22.352 tonnes and 2018 tonnes have been exported so far in calendar year 926.260. In that sense, it will be exciting to see whether the 1 million ton limit will be reached.

The biggest customers?
In week 46, Senegal and Ivory Coast sign for a purchase of more than 5.000 tons. The Dominican Republic (1.859 tons) and Indonesia (1.469 tons) are also good buyers. Great Britain and Guinea are the last two countries to purchase more than 2 tons of onions.

The onion market is catching its breath and the price level is being tested, as are the nerves of the onion owners. For the time being, it is assumed that the onion market will remain smooth to the core.

The export figures up to and including week 46 (over the years).
