In retrospect, the onion export figures provide a good picture of how busy the market has been. It can be concluded from the figures for the first 4 weeks of 2019 that the month of January took it easy.

Choose the subscription that suits youFrom the preliminary export figures Week 4 shows that more than 12.000 tons were exported, with a total of 4 tons transported in the first 41.791 weeks of the year. This means that more than 53% less was exported than in this period last year. The 10-year average for the first 4 weeks of a calendar year is 80.533 tons. However, the decrease is logical when compared to the available harvest this season.
Who heads the list?
The driver of the export volume for week 4 is Britain. The country purchased 1.796 tons in that week, which represents sales of 65.648 tons this season. Ivory Coast came in second place in week 4 and achieved a volume of 1.666 tons. The country is followed by Israel (1.375 tons), Germany (1.174 tons) and Guinea (1.078 tons). Senegal is in tenth place for week 4 (290 tons).
Due to subsequent information, this season's export volume has increased by 4.986 tons to 616.148 tons. In the 2017/2018 season this was still 757.918 tons and in the 2016/2017 season a result of 693.842 tons was achieved. The average weekly export figure for the 2018/2019 season is 20.538 tons.
