New Zealand onion export climbs to second place
The export of New Zealand onions is picking up the pace. Relatively speaking, Europe is well catered for.

Choose the subscription that suits youFrom the most recent export figures of New Zealand onions shows that in week 8 more than 6.500 tons of onions were exported to mainland Europe, with exports to the United Kingdom amounting to more than 1.100 tons. In total, more than 8 tons have been shipped to destinations in Europe up to and including week 14.400.
The majority of New Zealand onions (29,5%) went to the Dutch ports, a total of 4.249 tons. The Netherlands is followed by the group 'other European countries' (21,4%), with a total of 3.084 tonnes. Germany is in third place, with 2.616 tons of onions from New Zealand (18,2%).
Second place
In total, New Zealand has exported 20.720 tonnes to date, which is good for second place for the period 2013 to 2019. In addition to Europe, various countries in Asia are also supplied, such as the Pacific Islands (3.103 tons), Indonesia (1.694 tons) and Malaysia (664 tons).
