While there are many destinations that are lagging behind with their orders in the first weeks of 2019, there are also countries that buy more Dutch onions than usual. An example of this is Israel. This country is surprisingly often in the top 2019 of best buyers in 3.
The most recent export figures (week 8) are in line with the figures of the past few weeks. The provisional export figure in week 8 is 10.636 tons of onions, resulting in a total of 660.552 tons of onions exported to 123 different countries this season.
The average export for this season so far is 19.428 tons. This volume is mainly due to the first half of the season, because the average export of all full weeks in 2019 is only 11.407 tons.
Israel in the top 3
The top 3 of the largest buyers of Dutch onions in week 8 are the same as the top 3 of week 7. This means that Great Britain has again purchased the most onions: 1.769 tons. The country is followed by Germany (1.320 tons) and Israel (1.291 tons).
The latter country is a striking name in the top of the largest sales destinations in 2019. With a seasonal total of 12.945 tons of onions, the country purchases 372% more onions than last year in the same period.
