The provisional figures for onion exports for week 9 show that that week was a (very) poor export week. In week 9, only 7.460 tons were exported. There was 1 country that imported more than 1.000 tons of Dutch onions: Britain.

The country imported 1.036 tons from the Netherlands that week, bringing the seasonal total for this country to more than 74.000 tons. That is almost 2.000 tons more than was taken from the Netherlands last season. However, in the 2016/2017 season the counter stood at 95.000 tons.

Israel still present
Also Israel, which we previously labeled as one standout player, was again present on the Dutch onion market in week 9. The country purchased 979 tons that week and has already purchased 13.924 tons of Dutch onions this season. In the previous 2 seasons this was 3.152 tons and 4.884 tons respectively.

Germany is in third place, with a purchase of 862 tons. This country is followed by Mauritania (754 tons of onions) and Guinea (467 tons of onions from the Netherlands).

Behind last year
The total export figure for the 2018/2019 season so far stands at 669.728 tonnes, compared to 875.910 tonnes last season. In the 2016/2017 season, the export figure stood at 780.597 tons. The average weekly purchase amounts to 19.135 tons. Subsequent information shows that the export figure has increased by 1.715 tons.
