Due to the increased demand from export destinations, the onion market was a lot busier last week. However, this upturn is not yet reflected in the most recent export figures, those of week 10.
The provisional export figures show that 10 tons were exported in week 7.049 (early March). This means that the weekly figure is considerably below the average of 18.837 tonnes. The season's total now amounts to 678.928 tons of onions.
Dear customers
Great Britain once again purchased the most Dutch onions in week 10, this country purchased 1.381 tons. Second place goes to Israel, with a purchase of 812 tons. The top 3 is completed by Germany, which imported 10 tons from the Netherlands in week 799.
The export figures for weeks 11 and 12 are expected to be higher. Exports were particularly strong in week 12 a lot better, with demand mainly from Germany and Eastern Europe.
