Great Britain will be the leader in the export market for onions in week 21. With a few weeks to go until the end of the season, it looks like Great Britain will become the second largest buyer of Dutch onions for the third year in a row.
The provisional export figure for week 21 is 5.233 tons of onions. This means that the seasonal total, including the subsequent items (7.927 tons), for this season amounts to 796.227 tons. An average of 16.941 tons were exported weekly. The largest buyer in week 21 is Great Britain. This country imported 1.106 tons of Dutch onions.
After Great Britain, Poland purchased the most Dutch onions in week 21 (457 tons). France takes third place that week, with 401 tons of onions.
Repeat of past years
Great Britain thus achieves a seasonal total of 95.377 tons of onions from the Netherlands. This means that Great Britain will probably again become the second largest buyer of Dutch onions, after Senegal. In the 2016 and 2017 growing seasons, Senegal and Great Britain also formed the top 2.
