PPA Group has presented the price for the 2018 harvest yellow and red onions. PPA writes that the announcement of the prize was an excellent end to the special season.
The pool price for yellow onions is €42,63 per 100 kilos. This price applies to delivery in week 11 and includes a coarse premium of €0,15 per 100 kilos on the percentage that exceeds a coarseness of 60 millimeters.
The PPA Group pool runs from October to early May. This means that the pool differs from the pools that run from January. This plays a role, because this season a lot had to be delivered before January. During that period, the stock market price of Emmeloord for the 0% to 30% gross amounted to €30,40 and for the 30% to 60% gross amount to €37,88. The 60% upside recorded €42,53 during this period.
The GlobalGap/GRASP surcharge (€0,10 per 100 kilos) is also included in the price. The storage fee is paid via an ascending scale. An amount of €0,05 per 100 kilos will also be deducted for the pool commission. The average price of the pool (since 1996) is €12,85 per 100 kilos.
Red onions
The pool price for the red onions is €50,92. That price includes the Miliekeur premium: €0,25 per 100 kilos. This price applies to field crop net onions (40 millimeters upwards). A storage fee also applies to this pool price according to an ascending scale. All prices mentioned are exclusive of VAT.
"The growers are satisfied with this price and we share that opinion," says Jelle van der Krift of PPA Group. He also indicates that PPA encourages Milieukeur. "The more certificates, the wider the sales opportunities. This way we can create as much added value as possible. The quality was good. We noticed batches that were questionable (in terms of dormancy) in time, because we do a quality check once every 1 weeks ."
