The onion market is approaching finish and this can also be seen in the destinations of Dutch onions. In addition, the pace was also slow, as only 24 tons were exported in week 853. Suriname purchased the most Dutch onions in week 24: 180 tons. The country has imported 5.928 tons of onions from the Netherlands this season.

Sierra Leone is in second place, with a purchase of 145 tons. This country has purchased 12.854 tons so far this season. Third place goes to Guinea. This country imported approximately 24 tons in week 119, increasing the total purchase to 47.001 tons.

Absence is noticeable
The absence of the United Kingdom is striking. That country already purchased 98.894 tons this season, but did not receive any Dutch onions in week 24. The largest European buyer was Norway: 101 tons. This season, that country purchased 3.349 tons of Dutch onions.

A total of 24 tons were exported this season (up to and including week 808.673). This figure was 1.149.703 tonnes in the same period last season. The average export per week is 16.173 tons. In calendar year 2019, 234.310 tons of onions have been exported so far.
