The export figures in week 26 are one of the latest for the 2018 growing season. The number of countries that produce Dutch onions in that week is therefore only a fraction of the average number of export destinations during the past season.
According to provisional figures, 26 tons of onions were exported in week 2.493. This brings the season's total to 822.103 tons of onions. On average, 15.809 tons of onions crossed the border per week. The export of onions from calendar year 2019 amounts to 247.739 tons.
The top five largest buyers in week 26 consist entirely of European destinations. With 472 tons, Great Britain purchased the most onions in week 26. Germany follows in second place with 285 tons. Sweden, Denmark and Finland are the other countries in the top 5.
The number of countries that purchase Dutch onions has logically shrunk considerably. A total of Dutch onions were sent to 129 countries this season. In week 26, the Dutch onion has only left 31 destinations.
