The stock exchange listing in Goes showed a negative difference of €2 for the onion sets from land this week: €8 to €9. Because the bale prices are stabilizing, the grower prices also seem to be looking for a stable level. This week, for the first time, onion sets from the shed were listed on this exchange. This quote came in at €10 to €12.

Export
The stabilizing bale prices are accompanied by a smoother onion export. Despite the lack of large volumes, a number of African destinations are more explicit on the Dutch market. Another destination for our onions is Brazil. This South American country mainly imports coarse grades, which restores the balance between the coarse and medium grades.

At the bottom of the market, Poland is loading plenty of Dutch onion sets. Their own harvest is not yet ready for harvesting, which means that the Polish packers and peelers have a high demand for Dutch onions.

Little demand for seed onions
The seed onions have been badly hit by the heat. Many plots are already ironing, which means that the top is off. How many tons the heat has cost remains to be seen. More precipitation will be released for the coming weeks. Moreover, an acreage expansion of 10% can be called substantial, which means that the total Dutch yield can still turn out to be large. Since there are currently enough onion sets in stock, there is little demand for seed onions.
