For the first time this growing season, onion exports exceed 20.000 tons per week. There is 1 customer that plays an important role in this export figure.
The (provisional) export figures for week 32 amount to an export volume of 21.689 tons, which means that Dutch onion exports are starting to improve. A total of 78.622 tons crossed the border this season. In the week mentioned, there are even 5 destinations that purchased more than 1.000 tons.
In fourth and fifth place are Guinea (1.499 tons) and Great Britain (1.402 tons). Third place goes to a notable customer: Senegal. The market in this country is not yet open, but in week 32 2.471 tons have already been packed for export to the country. These onions are then transported when the market actually opens. Ivory Coast is in second place (2.481 tons).
Brazil
The big leader in week 32 is Brazil. This country imported 32 tons of onions from the Netherlands in week 6.612. The South American country has been very active on the Dutch market for a number of weeks. During this period, many large onion sets were shipped. The compulsion to buy has now decreased again, because Brazil has largely switched to its own harvest.
