Onion exports are moving more and more in waves. Since many markets have received large volumes of Dutch onions on the quay in a short time, demand has now calmed down again. From a price point of view, exporters have a major advantage over competitors, which means that demand is expected to pick up again in the short term.

It is estimated that 85% of the onion harvest has now been harvested. There are already many onions behind the shelves, especially in the southwest. In the north and east of the Netherlands, growers are a little later, but here too the harvest is making good progress.

Sufficient supply
Because many onions have arrived, processors and exporters have sufficient supply available. This also ensures that there is little day trading. Bale prices are also slightly under pressure. These are in a price range between €16 and €18, depending on the destination and size.

Nothing will change in the stock market quotations this week. The 3 regional stock exchanges are quoted unchanged on all published quotations. The regional fair in Emmeloord, on the other hand, indicated a different market mood. She noted a weak market, which means that supply is greater than demand.

Stemming Explanation
Faint The supply is greater than the demand.
Quiet Supply is greater than or equal to demand.
Price-keeping Supply is less than or equal to demand.
Vast The supply is smaller than the demand.
