Seasonal record onion export is firmly in place

The new export figures make it clear that Dutch exporters are currently making good progress. It is striking that the export information provided this week is the largest 'customer' of Dutch onions.

It has been clear for a number of weeks that onion sales are good. The pace is so high that there is a significant backlog in reporting export figures. For example, the subsequent information (week 31 to week 37) was the largest customer: 5.056 tons. As a result, the export figure increases from week 37 to 35.599 tons. This makes it the week with the highest export figure of this season. Week 34 follows with 33.428 and week 36 with 32.382 tons.

Ivory Coast best buyer
In week 38 (based on provisional information) there was an export of 23.428 tons. The largest buyer this week was Ivory Coast: 4.527 tons. The African country is good for 30.467 tons this season. Senegal purchased 3.197 tons, bringing the total to 41.578 tons of onions. Malaysia and Great Britain were the third and fourth buyers in volume, with 1.633 tonnes and 1.513 tonnes respectively.

A total of 257.964 tons of onions were exported this season, compared to 248.991 tons last season and 242.463 tons in the previous season. On average, 21.497 tons of onions were exported per week.
