The weekly change in onion export figures is something to look forward to. After a slow start, the pace is now good and records are being broken. With a provisional export figure of 34.000 tons, week 41 can join the previous weeks with more than 30.000 tons of exports (wk 34, 36, 37 & 39). What is striking is that such weeks appear to have a frequency of 2 weeks. Be that as it may, with week 41 the counter for this season stands at 350.589 tons.

Senegal (with the container port in the capital Dakar, photo) led the way in that week with 10.963 tons, good for 64.305 tons this season. Ivory Coast is in 2nd place with a purchase of 6.335 tons. Malaysia signed for 2.547 tons, Mali for 1.771 tons and Guinea for 1.187 tons. Great Britain is the first European country to take 1.091th place with 6 tonnes.
