Onion export switches back a notch

Dutch exporters achieved a weekly export figure of over 41 tons of onions in the period from week 44 to week 30.000. However, the preliminary export figures from week 45 cannot continue this pace.

The provisional export figure for week 45 it amounts to 24.922 tons. The postal information arrived at 1.409 tons. This means that the seasonal total provisionally amounts to 487.829 tonnes, which means an average export of 25.675 tonnes per week.

Largest customers
The top 3 largest buyers are Senegal, Guinea and Ivory Coast. Although these destinations purchase the most onions, because no full boats leave for Africa, the export volume is lower than in the 4 previous weeks.

Sri Lanka is just off the podium as the fourth largest buyer in week 45. Only red onions are exported to this country. The export figures of GroentenFruit Huis concern both yellow and red onions.
