Growers with good quality are firmly in the saddle. The successful export of the first half of the season and the adjusted harvest estimate figures ensure that growers are in no hurry to sell the onions.
On the other hand, it is difficult for processors to get rid of the onions. When exporting countries switch markets, a large export volume is missed. Moreover, it is the week of Fruit Logistica in Berlin. Many traders from all over the world come together during this fruit and vegetable fair. Because many exporters and processors are present, it is very quiet during the Fruit Logistica week every year.
One market that is running is the industrial market in Poland. Many lower quality batches are processed in the Polish peeling factories, causing these batches to disappear from the market.
Bale prices stabilize
Both the transaction lists and the stock exchange quotations indicate that there is little trading. The stock prices are in line with the quotations from a week earlier. Middenmeer's quotations are €0,50 lower than last week and the 30-60% coarse grading in Goes drops by €0,25, otherwise all stock exchange prices remain the same.
