Onion exports record fast through 1 million tons

It was coming. The limit of 1 million tons in the export of onions has been broken. This is good news for all corona perils. But was it just the week 14 export figure?

The latest onion export data shows that 14 tons of onions were exported in week 18.856 based on preliminary information. No less important is the postal information for the period weeks 6 to 13. Because this week the subsequent volume was again significant at 9.876 tons. Exporters appear to have accelerated the pace of information transmission, resulting in postal information being more than double the provisional information from week 14.

Border crossed
The total export this season amounts to 1.007.782 tons, which means an average of 25.194 tons per week. Never before has the 1 million ton limit been broken so early in the season. The previous 'record' was held by the 2017 harvest year, when 4 million tons of exports were passed 18 weeks later in week 1.

In week 14, Mauritania took the lead with 2.250 tons purchased, good for 45.587 tons this season. Serbia was a notable tweed buyer in terms of size with 1.925 tons, a total copper of 3.657 tons. Israel took third position with 1.592 tons, good for 11.535 tons this season.
