New export record is getting closer

The onion export of the 2020 growing season is still ahead of the current export record. With a few more export weeks to go, a new record is getting closer and closer.

Provisional figures from week 24 show a weekly export of 9.310 tons of onions. On average, 23.183 tons of onions were exported per week this season. The new export figures plus completed items of 4.783 tonnes put the season's total at 1.159.147 tonnes.

The 2019 growing season is now 9.443 tons ahead of the 2017 growing season. The current export record was set in this season. In this period (week 27) the last onions of the 2019 growing season are processed.

Onion transport to Poland
The season has almost come to an end, so there is a good chance that a new export record will be set. In addition, many onions have been transported to the peeling plants in Poland this season, the export figures of which are not included in the export lists. 

The largest buyer in week 24 is Great Britain with 1.576 tons. In addition to Great Britain, there is one more customer with an export of more than 1.000 tons. Guinea ordered 24 tons of Dutch onions in week 1.518. Third place in the export list is taken by Sierra Leone with 716 tons.
