A matter of patience, also with Limburg carrots

There is still little movement on the carrot market at the start of the new season. The demand is there, but the supply is still lacking. It results in solid pricing.

While in regions such as the Flevopolder and Zeeland we are still waiting for the first early carrots, in Limburg the harvesting machines are doing their work. Yet even there the supply is still minimal. There is no question of a smooth start now that growth is lagging behind. We have to wait for kilos, traders indicate.

DCA carrot notation
In the meantime, there is quite a bit of demand from various surrounding countries and the Eastern Bloc. This ensures relatively high prices at the start of this new carrot season. The first DCA quotation for B-carrot is €28 to €30 per 100 kilos. The price for C-carrot is slightly higher at €32 to €35 per 100 kilos, but that supply is, if possible, even scarcer.
