The demand for Dutch onions has increased slightly compared to previous weeks. This demand is very broad, there is some demand for Dutch onions from all directions. However, the volumes involved are still limited. Because demand (in volumes) is still low and processors already have access to supply that can be harvested at short notice in various ways, processors and traders are only active on the onion market to a limited extent.

Because there has been regular rain this week, few onions have arrived. This ensured that supply and demand were reasonably in proportion this week. Nevertheless, bale prices have dropped slightly. An overview of the bale prices can be found in the DCA listing Bale price Onions.

Little trade in seed onions
There is little trade in sowing onions. Packers and traders are in the onion onion season and usually already have a position in sowing onions. They are now waiting to see how the growth of the seed onions will develop in the last few months. On the other hand, there is no reason for growers to sell their seed onions now. Almost everyone has had the opportunity to sell onions from the field for €15, which means the mood among onion growers is steady. The result is a very quiet and exploratory onion market.

As in previous weeks, only the stock exchange committee in Goes issues a quotation. This week they only do that for the early spring onion sets. This quote dropped by €0.50 this week compared to last week, the quote now stands at €16,00 to €20,00.
