Agricultural mediation agency PPA, with branches in South Holland and Flevoland, has completed its yellow and red seed onion pool for harvest year 2019. The result for the yellow onions is above the company's average pool price since 1996.
The PPA storage pool for week 11 (mid-March) amounts to €15,12 per 100 kilos for yellow seed onions and €22,49 for red onions. These prices are excl. VAT and including a fee of €0,10 per 100 kilos for the Global-GAP fee. For yellow onions, the size 35mm is paid upwards. For red this is 40mm. €0,05 pool costs will be deducted from the price.
The pool price for yellow onions therefore ends up being above average for PPA. The average over 24 polar years is €12,95. Compared to the 5-year average, the price is €3 lower. The difference with Emmeloord's stock exchange listing is minimal. For yellow it works out at €15,18.
Above market price
This is slightly different for red onions. The difference with PPA's own average for last season is €6,83 per 100 kg in min. Compared to the quotation in Emmeloord, the pool price is higher. The difference with the stock exchange listing amounts to €3,70 in favor of the pool. Only from November did the market for red onions really start to do well, with a peak of more than €30 in March, for the coarse sorting. The price then fell sharply again, to €17,50 at the beginning of June.
