Last season the onion yield in Poland was poor. Drought affected Polish growers. In response, they planted and sowed more onions, according to figures from the Polish statistical office. Poland is currently finishing the harvest of winter onions and onion sets. These are traded in a price range of €14 to €22 and the yield is good.

According to the latest estimates, the increased area would yield an onion harvest of more than 600.000 tons, which is more than 40.000 tons more than last season. Despite the expansion, the expected yield this year is approximately 25.000 tons lower than the average for the 2016 to 2019 harvest years.

No top yield
The yield of the seed onions does not appear to lead to a top yield in advance due to various reasons. The spring was dry and serious rain only fell in May/June. Based on the currently available onions, Poland will not immediately be a buyer, but this has not yet been said based on the expected seed onion harvest.
