The scorching hot weather of recent times would normally lead to a rush to buy on the onion market. Although the mood among growers has increased considerably, processors are remaining calm when purchasing additional onions. There are still some obligations regarding onion sets and the seed onion plots purchased at an earlier stage will also be harvested in the short term. As a result, processors currently still have sufficient access to onions.

Senegal is still closed
Like every year, around this period there is a lot of speculation about the official opening of the Senegalese onion market. Senegal sets a date every year after which Dutch exporters can unload onions (and other raw materials) on the quays of the ports in Dakar. Although a boat with Dutch onions is already on its way and a second boat is scheduled to leave next week, the market is not yet officially open. A final date is expected to be determined next week and the market will open shortly.

First listing Emmeloord
In Goes, the onion onions were registered again this week. The quotation for onion onions ex field amounts to €13 to €14, a decrease of €0.25 compared to last week. In addition, the stock exchange committee in Goes has also issued a quotation for the onion sets from the shed. In recent weeks, several plots of onion sets have been received in the hope of receiving a better price from the shed. Because few onions were released this week due to the warm weather, the necessary batches were purchased from the shed. €14 to €15 was quoted for these onions.

This week was recorded for the first time this season in Emmeloord. The stock exchange committee has put a quotation on the board for both the yellow and red seed onions. The quotation for the yellow seed onions is €12 to €15 and for the red seed onions at €12 to €18.
