Ivory Coast accelerates on the onion market

The most recent export figures show a significant increase in onion exports. Demand from Ivory Coast in particular has increased considerably.

The already published export figures for week 31 amount to 19.081 tons of onions. This is a significant increase compared to the previous 2 published export weeks. In weeks 29 and 30, the export amounted to approximately 12.500 tons per week.

It is already the fifth time that export figures have been published. On average, 11.946 tons of onions were exported per week this season. Added together, this amounts to a seasonal total of 59.732 tons. This means that the export figures are still in line with last year's figures, when 59.203 tons of onions were exported in the first five weeks.   

Ivory Coast again the largest 
Just like last week, Ivory Coast is the largest buyer of Dutch onions. The West African country accounts for a decrease of 3.809 tons. Ivory Coast has already bought 9.824 tons of onions this season. This represents an increase of 3.410 tons compared to the first weeks of last season.

Great Britain is the second buyer in week 31. The British account for a purchase of 1.976 tons. The third customer in week 31 is Nicaragua with 1.673 tons. In addition, Guinea and Sweden are also good for exports above 1.000 tons.
