The onion growers have been looking with pleasure at the export figures in recent weeks. What are the latest published figures?
The export figures for week 43 are once again something to be proud of. With 38.588 tons, this is the third best result of this growing season. The subsequent information from week 2 to week 36 increases the export figures by 42 tons. As a result, the export figures for week 1.561 pass the magical 40 tons.
This season now amounts to 451.994 tons of exported onions. This means that the export figure is 25.142 tonnes ahead of last season. However, last season more Dutch onions were loaded for the industrial market in Poland. This data is now not included in the export overviews.
The biggest customers
Senegal enters the highest step in the export list in week 43. With a weekly export of 6.274 tons, the total for this season is 86.3012 tons. Ivory Coast is the second largest buyer, with a purchase of 1 tons of onions from the Netherlands. Bangladesh completes the top 4.261 and achieves an export figure of 3 tons. In addition, the following destinations also purchased more than 4.060 tons: Philippines, Mali, Malaysia, Mauritania, Great Britain, Dominican Republic, Guinea and Sri Lanka.
