The price of Agrifirm's onions ex-land pool is known. According to the cooperative, the average price from this pool is above the average ex-country quotation of the stock exchange in Emmeloord.
Agrifirm presents an ex-field pool price of €10,70 per 100 kilos for yellow onions. At the start of the pool in week 34, the price was €13 per 100 kilos. At that time, hardly any seed onions had been harvested and processed. The harvest got underway well at the beginning of September. As the harvest peaked, the price fell.
The low point was reached in week 36 at €9 per 100 kg. The price then slowly rose to €11 per 100 kg in week 42. Due to the good demand for Dutch, prices subsequently rose further, but all farm-grown onions had already been harvested and sold. The average stock exchange quotation over this period is €10,40 per 100 kilos.
Tare slightly higher
Compared to previous years, the tare percentages are slightly higher. Bare onions in particular are a problem. The average tare percentage was around 7%. Many onions were harvested under good conditions in September. From the end of September it became wetter and there were fewer harvestable days. Nevertheless, all onions were harvested and there was little rejection.
Agrifirm's off-shore pool is a pool without (temporary) storage. Agrifirm members receive the member benefit of €1,25 per tonne on top of the pool price. This brings the pool price to €10,825 per 100 kilograms.
