The latest export figures came in this week positive sense on. An export of 23.335 tons is more than excellent for this time of year. A number of African destinations in particular provided a good plus in week four. Demand from African countries is currently at a lower level. These countries are increasingly switching to local markets and now we have to wait for demand from Europe to increase.

Higher sales prices
On the farm is the atmosphere more than excellent. Last week's positive export figure ensures that the mood becomes even firmer. In recent weeks, increasingly higher sales prices have appeared on various transaction lists. This makes it increasingly difficult for buyers to loosen onions.

The stock exchange committee in Emmeloord has changed the mood in the yellow onion market this week from steady to price-oriented. A price-containing mood means that supply is less than or equal to demand. The quotation issued by the stock exchange committee in Emmeloord this week is unchanged compared to last week. The stock exchange committees in Middenmeer and Goes, on the other hand, are more positive. An increase of €0,50 has been achieved in Middenmeer. The listing in Goes in particular stands out this week. An average price increase of €0,25 is not too bad, but the large price range from €17 to €22 is striking.

Negative margins for packers
Bale prices cannot yet keep up with farm prices. Currently, bale prices and farm prices are so close to each other that negative margins are made by packers. An overview of the bale prices can be found in the DCA listing Bale price Onions.
