The latest export figures live up to the expectations of Dutch onion exporters for week 7, as it looks now. What are these numbers and what line can be drawn from them?
According to exporters' expectations, the export figures for onions in week 7 will be around the level of the export figure for week 6, which, with subsequent information, is now 13.987 tonnes. The provisional volume for week 7 is 14.018 tons.
Submit earlier
With a total volume of export information received from previous weeks, 471 tons, this season's export figure rises to 931.991 tons. This corresponds to a weekly average of 27.411 tons. Exporters appear to have more time to submit export figures earlier.
If we continue at the pace of weeks 6 and 7, the 1 million ton mark is expected to be passed in week 12. That is 2 weeks earlier than last year. But it also means that the lead compared to the export season of the 2020 harvest has fallen sharply to more than 2 weeks. As previously indicated, insiders expect that we should be able to use up the current stock of onions with a weekly export volume of between 13.000 and 17.000 tons.
Israel is pulling the cart
Week 7 had a striking leader and that is Israel. That country purchased 2.241 tons of onions, expanding the seasonal volume to 16.821 tons (previous year 3.842 tons). In places 2, 3 and 4 it is much of the same every week. Mauritania follows the Israelites with 1.810 tons, good for a total purchase of 44.614 tons this season.
Guinea follows at a distance of approximately 600 tons with 1.249 tons (total this season so far 43.144 tons). The British follow in fourth place with 1.109 tons, increasing the volume to 64.134 tons (57.212 tons in 2020). A total of Dutch onions were sent to 7 countries in week 77.
