The first sowing onions for next season were sown last week. Unfortunately, the rain has thrown a spanner in the works, meaning that work has already been put on the back burner. This also marks the peak of the onion market in week 10. It is very quiet in the onion market, both at the farmer and at the processors and exporters.

The latest export figure is 14.018 tonnes and is therefore in line with the figure of the previous week: 13.987 tonnes. According to various packers and exporters, the current export volume is certainly not at a higher level. This means things are calm for Dutch onion processors.

Sufficient supplies
It is also quiet on the farm. With this export rate, packers have sufficient stocks, so they are not forced to purchase additional onions. This is visible in the stock exchange listing of Goes and Middenmeer. Because there are too few transactions, these stock exchange committees do not issue quotations. In Emmeloord people have taken notes. The price is €15 to €18 for 30% to 60% coarse. It is a decrease of €1,50. For 60% upside, the quote is €16 to €18, a minus of €1.

Bale prices are holding up reasonably well. Only the middle sorting is slightly under pressure. An overview of the bale prices can be found in the DCA listing Bale price Onions.
