As usual, the most recent onion export figures will be announced in the middle of the week. The provisional export figure for week 10 underlines the calm the Dutch onion market has been in for a number of weeks. There is still a struggle to get export orders awarded, which generally causes more price pressure.

The 1 million tonne limit is getting closer
For week 10, the volume of onions exported by the Netherlands amounts to 11.464 tons. Together with subsequent information for the period weeks 1 to 9 of 470 tons, the total volume exported this season rises to 973.462 tons. On average, this corresponds to 26.309 tons per week. The lead compared to the previous season up to and including week 10 is 40.468 tons. A volume that at the pace of week 10 would mean a period of more than 3,5 weeks. The breaking of the 1 million ton limit is getting closer and will most likely have already been passed by the time the provisional export figure is announced.

Mauritania in the lead
The export result in week 10 was mainly based on the following countries. Mauritania leads with 2.112 tonnes. The country thus raises this season's export volume to 50.000 tons. Guinea follows with 1.926 tons and is good for 48.294 tons this season. Great Britain is a stable factor with 1.384 tons and, with 68.181 tons, is 5.167 tons ahead of last season. The other purchasing countries all purchased less than 1.000 tons, of which Germany claimed the largest share with 752 tons. In total, Dutch onions were exported to 10 countries in week 67.
