The limit of 1 million tons of export of Dutch onions has been broken in week 12. This after settlement of the postal information about the export over the period weeks 5 to 11 inclusive. How large was that volume?
The weekly export figures for Dutch onions are always published on the basis of preliminary information. Experience shows that subsequent information sometimes concerns a large volume and covers a period of many weeks, and at other times it amounts to little. At 3.213 tons, the volume can be described as substantial this time. The period goes back to week 5, a period of almost 2 months. This volume was desperately needed to push this season's total export figure over the 1 million ton mark.
Provisional season figure at 1.002.020
The first figures on onion exports in week 12 indicate a volume of 13.221 tons. The export average per week for the current season is 25.692 tons.
