Onion exports are having a hard time finding their way up, according to the latest export figures. The figure from week 14 underlines that effort.
It seems virtually impossible to push onion sales to higher levels again. With a provisional export figure of 11.637 tons of onions in week 14, a new low has been reached in the export figures relating to the year 2021. Subsequent information for the period weeks 8 to 13 still showed a volume of 839 tons. The provisional export result for the 2020-2021 season therefore amounts to 1.029.198 tons, 18.420 tons more than the previous marketing season. As a result, the lead has shrunk even further. The average weekly export figure is 25.102 tons.
Only one customer of more than 1.000 tons
In week 14 there was only one customer who purchased more than 1.000 tons. And that is Great Britain with 2.807 tons. The volume of onions that crossed the Channel this season increased to 76.689 tons, 4.512 tons more than last year (+6,3%). The second and third in size among buyers were Guinea with 815 tons and Mauritania with 754 tons. In total, the onions were shipped to 78 countries.{{dataviewSnapshot(2_1619681678)}}
