The onion export figures announced this week will be a disappointment for onion sorters who had hoped for an adjustment to the provisional figures for week 14. It feels like between 13.000 and 14.000 tons of onions must have been exported in that week. But even after an adjustment due to subsequent information of 'only' 76 tons, the figure remains stuck at 11.713 tons. The total volume of export information received relating to weeks 13 and 14 amounted to 82 tonnes.

The provisional export figure for week 15 stands at 13.936 tons, more than 2.000 tons more than in the previous week. The total export figure for the 2020-2021 season stands at 1.043.217 tons. The lead over last season is therefore 15.577 tons. On average, 24.838 tons of onions were exported every week. In week 15, exports were made to customers in 80 countries.

The British are increasing their seasonal volume
It was remarkable that the British also did good business this week with a purchase of 3.920 tons. They thus increased their seasonal volume to 80.634 tons, 9,3% more than last season. Guinea was the second and last buyer to purchase an onion volume of more than 1.000 tons. Based on these preliminary figures, 1.106 tons of onions went to this African country. There are two European customers in third and fourth place in week 15: Spain with 2 tons and Serbia with 703 tons. The Spaniards have purchased 693 tons more Dutch onions up to and including week 15, an increase of 4.344%.{{dataviewSnapshot(56_2)}}
