Hallway is everything. This saying is a well-known saying in the agricultural Netherlands. But what does this have to do with onions? What are the latest reports on the export figures of onions?
Figures are making it increasingly clear that onion sales are not going bad at all. In fact, the provisional export result is the best result ever achieved in week 30. And to think that we are still at the beginning of a new season. This offers perspective in an onion landscape in which little honor can be achieved in terms of trade.
Off to a good start
The provisional export figure is 17.896 tons. Together with subsequent export information for weeks 28 and 29, a total of 219 tons, this puts the export total this season at 36.686 tons. Related to the same period of the previous 2 seasons, this season stands out.
The record was partly set by Ivory Coast, which purchased 3.854 tons of onions. Great Britain is the second largest buyer with the import of 2.172 tons of Dutch onions. Guinea, Mauritania and Nicaragua follow with 1.859 tonnes, 1.796 tonnes and 1.336 tonnes respectively. The top 5 countries were also the only countries to purchase more than 1.000 tons. A total of onions were exported to 67 countries, with Saudi Arabia coming in at the bottom with 5 kilos.{{dataviewSnapshot(2_1629367113)}}
