Based on preliminary information on the export of onions in week 44, we can again speak of a good export result. Week after week, more than 30.000 tons of onions are exported every week. What about the lead compared to last season?
The uproar and the inability to raise grower prices for onions are at odds with the export performance of onions. Onion sales are now at their peak and, just like last year, it is not possible to capitalize on this. This causes frustration among growers, who were used to being in the driver's seat at this time. But it doesn't seem to go any further than just riding along.
With a provisional figure of 36.386 tons, the export of onions in week 44 can be considered above average. The average weekly export figure is 29.483 tons. The cumulative export result for the period weeks 28 to 44 amounts to 501.219 tons, compared to 483.953 tons over the same period in 2020.
Senegal in the lead
Senegal contributed most to this result with a purchase of more than 9.055 tons of onions. Ivory Coast followed with 6.788 tons. The difference between the two largest buyers of Dutch onions has increased to 10.075 tons in favor of Senegal. The British were third in size both in week 44 and cumulatively when it comes to importing Dutch onions. This concerns 3.152 tons and 43.759 tons respectively. The onions were exported to buyers in 44 countries in week 77. {{dataviewSnapshot(2_1637749283)}}
