Export result on onions good for Christmas wreath

The latest onion export figures, announced before Christmas, maintain the trend of 'more than 30.000 tons'. What does the decrease in onions in week 48 mean for the total Dutch export picture?

It is not surprising, but in week 48 Senegal is also the country that shapes the export volume of onions. With a provisional figure of 8.826 tons, Senegalese buyers managed to raise the total result for this season to 123.209 tons of Dutch onions, which is 3.535 tons less than last season.

Main customers
Ivory Coast and Mali are crossing swords when it comes to a purchase of more than 3.000 tons. Customers in the first-mentioned country imported 3.488 tons of onions from the Netherlands. Mali followed with 3.232 tons. The Ivory Coast counter is cumulatively at 105.772 tons and that of Mali at 36.002 tons of Dutch onions. Great Britain bought 2.729 tons of onions, which means that the British have now shipped 55.718 tons of Dutch onions across the Channel.

In week 48, a total of 35.413 tons of onions were exported to buyers in 88 countries. Subsequent information from the period from week 40 to week 47 yields another item of 1.205 tons. The total export result therefore amounts to 655.243 tons, which means an average of 31.202 tons of onions per week.
