The latest onion export figures make it clear that onion exports have been fantastic in the first half of the season. No other season can measure up to the preliminary result.
The idea that the 2021-2022 season would remain ahead of the previous record year until New Year's Eve turned out to be no longer feasible towards the finish. But the last weeks of 2021 were better than expected. And so the 2021-2022 season will go down as a record for the first half of the season.
A total of 802.065 tons of onions were exported, which corresponds to 32.082 tons per week. Based on provisional figures, exports in the last week of 2021 amount to 31.191 tons. With 2.819 tons, subsequent information also made a contribution. The difference with last season is 11.071 tons (period weeks 28 to 52), but there is also an advantage when looking at the season.
Senegal, Ivory Coast and Great Britain
Exports were boosted by, among other things, the Senegalese purchase of 11.113 tons. This brought the cumulative export result for 2021-2022 to 167.106 tonnes. Ivory Coast performed significantly more quietly with an import of 3.500 tons, but the result of the first half of the season, 123.998 tons, is definitely impressive. Great Britain bought 2.310 tons of onions in the Netherlands. In total, there were ten countries that purchased more than 1.000 tons of onions.{{dataviewSnapshot(2_1642584269)}}
