The export figures for 2021 are known. The last week of 2021 was good for exports of 31.192 tons. This brings the export figure for 2121 to 802.066 tons. Because another ship was loaded for Senegal in the first week of 2022, the first export figure of 2022 will also be positive. Things are now a lot calmer in exports. There is a lot of talk about Brazil as a buyer of Dutch onions. Although Brazilian importers have indeed inquired in the Netherlands, there has been no export to Brazil to date.

The mood on the farm is much more positive
The mood on the farm has become a lot more positive. Packers' working stocks are short, which means that many packers have to move and are therefore seen in the yard more often. There is a particular demand for large onions of excellent quality. Farmers with such lots do not easily let go of these onions. Despite the fact that bale prices are under pressure, the farm price has risen slightly due to tight supplies.

In the regional stock exchange listings, the difference between coarse and fine parties is becoming increasingly clear. What is special is that all three regional agricultural fairs are lowering the price for the 30/60% grading this week and increasing the price for the 60% upward grading. When the three regional stock exchange quotes are compared, the price for the 30/60% sorting is €8,00 to €10,00 and the 60% upward sorting is €9,00 to €11,00 . More importantly, both the stock exchange committee in Emmeloord and Middenmeer show the mood on the onion market as price-oriented, which means that supply is smaller or equal to demand.

Bale prices slightly under pressure
Bale prices are slightly under pressure. Packers can store their large onions better than medium grade onions, which means that, just like in stock market prices, the difference between large and medium grade onions increases. An overview of the bale prices can be found in the DCA quotation onion bale price.
