Export train on onions continues to thunder

Once again, excellent export figures for Dutch onions can be written in the books and with that, the onion exporters seem to be able to give a beautiful business card this season. What are the numbers up to and including week 4?

In the latest update of the export figures for Dutch onions, the season does not seem to want to relinquish its lead. With a provisional export figure of 21.792 tons and a subsequent volume of 1.091 tons over the period weeks 1 to 3, the interim figure for this season amounts to 893.836 tons. This amounts to an average weekly volume of 30.821 tons. Compared to the last record season, the lead is 14.804 tons, measured over the period from week 28 in 2021 to week 4 of this year 2022. This difference was 16.200 tons last week and 2 tons in week 10.630.

In week 4, six countries purchased more than 1.000 tons of onions. At the top of the list is Ivory Coast with a purchase of 5.264 tons of onions, followed by Great Britain with 2.929 tons, Belgium with 1.581 tons, Guinea with 1.471 tons, Malaysia with 1.282 tons and Mauritania with 1.252 tons. The difference between Ivory Coast and Senegal, in terms of total purchase, still includes a volume of 33.117 tons.
