The most recent export figures once again show a good weekly volume. This amounts to 25.972 tons. In the first five weeks of the year, exports of more than 20.000 tons were achieved each time; this is good for the period of the season. The countries that are now calling for Dutch onions are the well-known names for this period of the year. These are mainly countries from West Africa and Europe.

Fixed mood
The mood on the farm is still very steady. Processors and traders, on the other hand, are experiencing resistance to the sharply increased farm prices in recent weeks. Compared to previous weeks, there was therefore little trading this week.

The agricultural fairs in Middenmeer and Emmeloord describe the market as price-friendly. This means that demand is greater/equal to supply. All stock exchange quotations also showed an increase this week. When these odds are compared, the 30% to 60% coarse grade will be paid €11 to €14 this week and the '60% upward' grade will be priced at €12 to €15.

Red onions
The stock exchange committee in Emmeloord also makes positive noises for the red onion market. For both types, the exchange describes the market as fixed. However, the difference between coarse sorting and medium sorting is becoming increasingly clear. While the price for the 30% to 60% coarse is still falling, the price for 60% is rising upwards. The coarse sorting is also increasing in Goes. For 30% to 60% rough, they have too few transactions to achieve a quote.

When the quotations from the regional stock exchanges in Goes and Emmeloord are compared, a rough price of €30 to €60 is paid for the sorting of 15% to 22%. For the sort '60% upwards' a price of €22 to €27,50 is quoted.

Bale prices are lagging behind farm prices. An additional charge can be made for exclusive sizes and destinations, but an average batch will yield approximately €16 in the bale. An overview of the bale prices can be found in the DCA listing Bale price Onions.
