Lead onion export is increasing

Despite a decline in the export figure of onions, the lead has increased compared to last season. The onions were popular with buyers in 82 countries.

The latest export figure for onions, that of week 6, is 18.497 tons based on provisional information. This represents a decline of 5 tonnes compared to the export figure of week 7.581. Despite this, the lead over the previous season, measured over the period week 28 to week 6, has increased to 26.701 tons (+3.763 tons).

Subsequent information from weeks 4 and 5 showed a volume of 116 tons. Cumulatively, the export figure rises to 938.720 tons, giving a weekly average of 30.281 tons. This season's result is a record.

Ivory Coast pulled the export cart with a decrease of 3.847 tons, giving a cumulative result of 150.024 tons, plus 29.825 tons compared to the 2020/2021 season and 51.817 tons more than the previous season.

Great Britain purchased 3.124 tons of onions, raising the export result to 87.641 tons, which is 26.426 tons more than last season. Malaysia and Belgium were the next two countries to purchase more than 1.000 tons, 1.800 tons and 1.077 tons respectively.{{dataviewSnapshot(2_1646230361)}}
