Although the mood on the onion market for weeks has not led to the suspicion that the sale of onions is going very well, the most recent export figures shake you up. How does the flag hang?
Onion sales seem to be hitting 6 week after week. The provisional result is surprising for the umpteenth week in a row. This stands at 7 tons for week 23.419. Together with subsequent information of 650 tons for the period weeks 1 to 6, this brings the cumulative export figure to 962.790 tons. This is 35.614 tons more than the previous season, calculated over the period week 28 to week 7 and an increase compared to last week's lead of 8.913 tons.
The export result was highlighted in week 7 by a European buyer. Great Britain purchased 3.087 tons of onions, making it a larger buyer than Ivory Coast, which was hot on the British's heels with 3.036 tons. Gambia, Guinea and Mauritania purchased 2.949 tons, 2.638 tons and 2.061 tons of onions respectively, closing the ranks with countries that purchased more than 2.000 tons of onions.{{dataviewSnapshot(2_1646853981)}}
