Onion exports have started the year well. In the first seven weeks, an average of 22.955 tons per week were exported. Last season this figure was 16.832 tonnes. The export figures are therefore still ahead of last year. Exports are currently below 20.000 tons. Demand now mainly comes from Africa and Great Britain. Many onions have already been exported to Poland this season. This demand has been a lot quieter in recent weeks, because our onions are relatively expensive due to high transport costs.

There was little trading on the farm last week. There is a big gap between demand and supply. Processors cannot increase bale prices because the Dutch sorting capacity is too large for this demand. To make sure the costs are correct, they only want to pay prices that onion growers are not interested in.

Regional fairs
The stock exchange committees in Emmeloord and Middenmeer describe the market as quiet this week. This means that the demand is less than or equal to the demand. Most stock market quotes remain unchanged this week. There are only some slight differences in negative respects in Emmeloord and Goes.

The market is more positive for red onions. Although the differences compared to last week are not large, the stock exchange committee in Emmeloord describes the market for red onions as steady.

Bale prices are unchanged compared to last week. An overview of the bale prices can be found in the DCA listing Bale price Onions.
