A lackluster trade in onions and still a fantastic export result. It is just not the image of the onion market that is liked.
The export result for onions is again something to write home about. The provisional export result stands at 18.320 tons and, with a subsequent export information item of 983 tons, creates a cumulative volume of 982.094 tons. This amounts to a weekly export of an average of 29.760 tons, which represents an absolute record.
The lead compared to the past season has increased to 39.514 tonnes (measured over the period week 28 to week 8), which is an increase of 3.900 tonnes (+11%) compared to the lead of week 7.
Four countries purchase more than 1.000 tons of onions
Four countries purchased more than 1.000 tons of onions in week 8. These were Great Britain with 3.343 tons, Guinea with 2.030 tons, Ivory Coast with 1.543 tons and Malaysia with 1.511 tons. Ivory Coast's counter now stands at 154.603 tons, compared to Senegal's total export figure of 175.408 tons.
Despite the very good export results, the mood is not going well at the moment and sorting companies seem to be mainly concerned with eliminating the obligations and then just looking at the situation.{{dataviewSnapshot(2_1647447388)}}
