With the publication of the first onion export figures of week 14, the total Dutch effort seems to be a repeat of moves. The record season 2020/21 can only be in the shadow of this season.
Based on provisional export figures and subsequent information from weeks 9 to 13, the lead of onion exports will be further expanded compared to the previous record season. In week 14, at least 16.757 tons of onions crossed the border. The volume of export information received amounts to 993 tonnes. This gives a total volume of 1.093.980 tonnes exported this season, an average of 28.050 tonnes per week.
Thirteen in a dozen
Last week the lead over the last season turned out to be 65.589 tons, in week 14 that lead was further increased to 69.494 tons (+6,0%). In the period week 1 to week 14 of 2022, 20.848 tons of onions were sold every week. This means that the current season is 3,3 weeks ahead and this seems to be a dime a dozen season.
Responsible for the export figure in week 14 were, among others, Great Britain with 3.210 tons, now good for 112.613 tons this season, and Guinea with 1.637 tons, giving an export total of 70.906 tons. But Mauritania, Ivory Coast and Malaysia also participated well with a decrease of 1.414 tons, 1.287 tons and 1.074 tons respectively. The remainder of the weekly export in week 14 (8.133 tons) was sold to customers in 64 countries. ranging from 3 (Seychelles) to 914.500 kilos (Israel).
