Based on preliminary information, the export result of onions for this season has again been drawn to a close. The first figures from week 17 indicate an export volume of 16.909 tons. Additional export information amounting to 10 tonnes was received for the period weeks 16 to 1.467. Cumulatively, this increases the total export result for this season to 1.148.496 tons, which is an increase of 74.749 tons (+7%) compared to last year. At the previous standings, the lead turned out to be 71.384 tons, which further increases the distance compared to last season. The weekly export average is 27.345 tons.
Top 5 is doing good business
The British also topped the list of largest buyers in week 17, followed by Ivory Coast, Malaysia, Spain and Guinea. The countries mentioned purchased more than 1.000 tons, ranging from 1.078 tons to 3.268 tons. With 121.353 tons, the English have purchased 36.322 tons more onions on paper. Ivory Coast also purchased significantly more onions than last year: +36.965 tons. The figures show that this also applies to Malaysia (+10,18%) and Guinea (+34,15%).
